New route expands the airline’s African network reach through Libya
DUBAI – Dubai-based carrier flydubai has launched its inaugural passenger service to Benghazi, marking a significant milestone as the first UAE airline to operate flights to Benghazi Benina International Airport in Libya.
The new route further strengthens Dubai’s growing aviation links with North Africa. The airline operates three weekly flights from Dubai International Airport Terminal 3 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
The inaugural arrival was greeted with a traditional water cannon salute and a formal reception from airport authorities, signalling the start of scheduled operations on the route.

The addition of Benghazi increases flydubai’s African footprint to 13 destinations across nine countries, reinforcing its focus on underserved and emerging markets. The airline stated that the expansion reflects continued demand for direct links between Dubai and key regional cities in Libya.
The new service is positioned to enhance both passenger travel and trade connectivity, offering a new gateway between the UAE and eastern Libya. The route also complements flydubai’s wider network strategy, which prioritises point-to-point connections alongside tourism and business travel growth across Africa.

The service operates in coordination with the flydubai and Emirates codeshare partnership, allowing passengers to benefit from streamlined itineraries, single-ticket bookings and through-checked baggage. This integration enables smoother transfers across an extended global network, improving access between Libya and multiple international destinations via Dubai.
According to the airline, the introduction of Benghazi aligns with its continued commitment to building efficient connectivity from its Dubai hub while serving high-potential markets across the region. The launch comes amid the summer travel period, when demand across regional routes typically increases.
Fare structure
Return Business Class fares from Dubai to Benghazi start from Dh 10,500, while Economy Class Lite fares are priced from Dh 4,500. On the return sector from Benghazi to Dubai, Business Class fares begin at USD 2,500, with Economy Class Lite starting at USD 800.
Tickets are available through flydubai’s official website, mobile application, UAE contact centre, travel shops and authorised travel partners. The schedule and pricing structure are designed to cater to both business and leisure travellers seeking direct connectivity between the two cities.
